We love climbing and we want everyone to be able to love climbing. With that said, we know climbing isn’t the cheapest sport to get into or maintain, so in an effort to make climbing accessible for more, we developed our new Pay-What-You-Can membership.

Members who are able to pay more than basic membership rates choose their own monthly membership price, and those who need to pay less can also set their price as low as $35/monthly. These memberships include rental gear.

How It Works

This will work just like our month-to-month auto-draft membership, and gives you access to:

• unlimited climbing
• free rental gear
• guest passes
• member classes/benefits

but with two options:

1. PAY INTO (pay more than your Focus membership)- Members who pay more than their rate will help Focus to lower our minimum Pay-What-You-Can rate of $35/monthly, and continually provide free rental gear. You do not need to qualify for any govt. assistance programs to PAY INTO this program, but you DO get improved Karma for being a great person.

2. BENEFIT FROM (paying less than a Focus membership)- Members and future members can choose their monthly rate. People who are participating in one or more of the following programs are eligible for the Pay-What-You-Can membership.

• SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)
• CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program)
• WIC (Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children)
• AHCCS (Arizona Healthcare Cost Containment System)

Pay-What-You-Can

Pay-what-you-can model allows you to assess your financial resources and contribute what you can to a membership. We understand that everyone comes from different backgrounds with different incomes, and we also understand systems of oppression have long term impacts that contribute to an individual’s financial stability. Our hope is that with this model, we can challenge those systems and work towards a community that fully represents everyone.

With submitting your application, you will be able to upload proof of eligibility and what rate you are able to contribute to your monthly membership. Once approved, you will receive an email confirming your new membership/rate. When you are ready, stop by Focus and activate your Pay-What-You-Can membership. Complimentary use of rental gear is included with this membership.
